Calling All Pioneers!
Are you a direct descendant of a settler
who was in California prior to 1850? If
so, are you interested in joining the oldest
historical organization west of the Mississippi
and preserving, promoting, and enjoying
California history for generations
to come? Then we would like to invite you
to join us! The Society of California Pioneers
maintains a non-profit public history museum,
a fine art gallery, and a research library
with an excellent California history collection.
In addition, special member events include
the annual Discovery of Gold Party, historic
tours, the elegant Opera Supper, film premieres,
museum exhibit previews, lectures, and much
more. The Society's treasures include hundreds
of original pioneer diaries, a large collection
of nineteenth century photography, family
tree records, maps, manuscripts, artwork,
clothing, tools and other belongings of
early pioneers.
Membership is open to descendants of pioneers who arrived in California prior to January
1st, 1850. An annual or lifetime membership
entitles you to receive:
- A Calligraphic Scroll stating your pioneer
ancestry.
- Invitations to all Events and Programs
including: The President's Picnic, The
Albert Shumate Lecture, The Christmas
Convivium, The Gold Discovery Party, and
the Annual Meeting.
- A Subscription to the Society's Journal,
The PIONEER, featuring articles on California
history as well as paintings, artifacts,
manuscripts and photographs from the Society's
collection.
- A Subscription to the Society's newsletter, The BULLETIN, featuring upcoming events,
member and activity notes, and Society
information.
- A Society Roster as it is made available.
- Special Travel Opportunities & Discounts
