Are you interested in joining the oldest historical organization west of the Mississippi and preserving, promoting, and enjoying California history for generations to come? Then we would like to invite you to join us! The Society of California Pioneers maintains a non-profit public history museum, a fine art gallery, and a research library with an excellent California history collection. The Society’s treasures include hundreds of original pioneer diaries, a large collection of nineteenth century photography, family tree records, maps, manuscripts, artwork, clothing, tools and other belongings of early pioneers.
Membership is open to all who are direct descendants of people who were in California prior to January 1st, 1850. Your spouses may choose to join the Auxiliary. If you are not a Pioneer, but are interested in participating, our Friends of the Museum & Library program offers many opportunities to be involved with the organization.
